Interested in using native plants in your garden and landscaping to support pollinators and reduce pesticide use? Struggling with where to find the right plants, and how to get started? This event is for you!
Hannah Beall of Bell Design and Landscape will discuss ecology based landscape design using more native plants and less turf grass, including case studies showing how others have “gone native” with their landscaping.
Jacob Kearney, Conservation Program Specialist at the Monroe County Soil and Water Conservation District will cover the MCSWCD services and programs, including the Tree and Shrub Program which provides low cost bare root seedlings to Monroe County residents.
Andrew Hoffman, Assistant Professor of Biology at St John Fisher University will cover responsibly collecting seeds from local native plants.
Nina DiLapi, Color Fairport Green (CFG) member will lead a hands on Winter Sowing activity, planting seeds that were collected by Andrew and other CFG members.
This is a free, public event co-hosted by Color Fairport Green and the Fairport Public Library.

All are welcome, but space is limited, so registration through the Fairport Public Library is required.
